Shoot Me: A Venture into New Media
My office partner, friend, and landlady Carrie Knowles has a new novella out this month from Mind Wings Audio. Shoot Me is an hour-long psychological thriller, just right for short trips or long commutes, or for playing while you're doing office/home chores.
She and I and other writers in this office building are accustomed to print book releases. This is a first for our little neighborhood: a book available at $3.99 in CD and MP3 downloadable format. (I have to admit: I don't know what an MP3 is.)
Read by actor Eric Dove, the story turns on an antique thief breaking into a house, only to find that an elderly woman is inside and she has decided she doesn't want to live now that her husband has died.
Audio short stories — albeit long ones — are a new idea. Mind Wings Audio opened for business about a year and a half ago and has produced more than forty stories since, tilted toward thrillers and crime.
Here's an audio sample of Shoot Me: Listen! It's a new form of browsing.
