Pruning by Helicopter: Retreat Day 3
Witnessed quite a bold exploit this morning. This writers retreat where I'm spending the week (Doe Branch Ink) got an astounding visitation from the outside world this morning. The land is a quite a ways from a main road. Getting here involves going up a mountain and just over the other side. Not visible to us here, but nearby runs a power line that can't easily be reached by the usual methods.
So when branches begin to threaten it, the pruning is done by helicopter. Here'a a bad shot of the line of sawmill blades that dangle below the helicopter.
And below is a shot of the hovering "chopper" itself. (I have a good video but haven't yet figured out how to get it out of my 2 week old Droid phone. So maybe later…)
At any rate, we marveled at the dexterity and courage it must take to skim and hover over mountain forest swinging a power tool the size of a phone pole.
Sort-a makes going back inside to revise fiction seem almost manageable.

Indeed. Changing perspective has always been helpful to me. Thanks for the reminder!

Me too, Jodi. Though I’ve never before gotten that perspective from a helicopter overhead.
