Staying Humble
First I saw that my novel Revelation was listed as #1 on Amazon. I didn't take this too seriously because it's three-quarters the way through its one-day free Kindle copy give-away. (Reader, you can get your own free copy until around midnight Pacific time today Sunday June 10, if I understand correctly.)
Then I noted that Revelation was Number One in the Kindle-free-copy column — under Mysticism.
All would have been well had I not checked to see how many books on Mysticism were free today.
Friends, there were two others. Both in German.
I think I'll now drive the week's garbage over to the county dump before they close for the day.

LOL! I know a few folks in this business who seem to get, shall we say, prideful, but I have no idea HOW – every single day there are peaks and valleys and in some ways I guess that's part of the beauty of this writing life. We start anew with every book and for that matter, every reader.
I'm glad Revelation hit number one no matter how many or few companions it had today! 🙂
You have an excellent philosophy about these matters, Billie. And thank you!
Congratulations anyway. And what a nice day for a drive to the dump.
Thanks, Kim. Actually, I love to go to the dump. There’s a swap shop there where I’ve found all manner of cool things. Interesting books, art, furniture. There are some tasteful people in these woods.
I agree wirh Billie. No 1 is No 1 and makes a great cover blurb. Frances
I like your thinking on this, Frances. Though I’m not sure I’m bold enough to put it on the cover.
Nummer 1 ist besser als Nummer 3!
Oh, much besser, Brent. Coming in Nummer 3 would have truly have been a delight.
Drei mal hoch! Und drei ist immer besser als drei + , wie Nummer uns ist besser als Nummer drei ! !
I went to Brent's site – impressive.
P, I'm guessing you're, like the rest of us, both too humble and not humble enough, depending on the circumstances. Congrats on staying the damn [I'm touched this moment to tears], course — We artists have as hard a time, in different ways, as does every other Vocation.
[Still damp-eyed & gasping a bit for breath], it seems to me when a person dedicates mind, body and spirit, as do we all if truly practicing our Vocation, the road is Rough, worth it, and our spirits would be dead if we were doing only vocation. You are a fine model, and greatly to be admired! In Japanese, the word is Sensei = she/he who shows/leads the way.
Warmest personal regards, Aiki
I’m touched, Aiki. Thank you!
This business is soul-sucking, no doubt about it. Stay strong! You're a wonderful writer and we, your devoted followers and readers, are keen to read whatever you write!! <3
Soul-sucking — and at times kinda funny! Thanks, Beth!
