Sister India Gets a New Life
My 2001 novel Sister India, set in the Hindu holy city of Varanasi, emerged in recent days as an e-book. Appropriately for a book from the bank of the Ganges, it was re-released by the original publisher, Riverhead, an imprint of The Penguin Group.
I am very happy to have this book easily available again. So in a quiet demonstration of my joy, please allow me to remind you that the title is:
And in case it's hard to read, the fine print says: A New York Times Notable Book.
And: "Peggy Payne has created one of the more unsettling and mesmerizing characters in expatriate literature." —The New York Time Book Review
Thank you for joining me in this celebration! Imagine champagne and cake and trumpets, please.

Congratulations Peggy! Great news. I have finally started Cobalt and loving it so far. Will look forward to Sister, too. Trumpets indeed, and a sitar or two, Frances
Thanks, Frances. I’m glad you’re enjoying Cobalt Blue; people do have various reactions to this book and I’m interested in them, whatever they are.
I love this blog! But, I'm sorry, what was the name of the book again? Your posts always bring a smile to my face, keep 'em coming!
Let me see, E.B., could you be referring to SISTER INDIA? (I’d put it in color if I knew how to do that in a reply.
Sister India was my first introduction to your writing. I was hooked right away! Loved Sister India, great news. I'll have to tell all my peeps!
Thanks, Beth. And I appreciate the word to the peeps.
Just returned from two weeks with church team of fifteen at Njoro, Kenya, P.C.E.A. orphans and vulnerable children programme. While on this (short) Kenya trip, I recommended Sister India to someone I thought might like it as much as I do (reading).
Welcome back, and thanks, Bob! I suspect that was a pretty arduous trip.
