Bold Mother
Browsing a blog by literary agent Dana Newman, I found this unnerving picture and caption:
"My daughter rappelling down a slot canyon in Utah, during a trip her 7th grade class took with the National Outdoor Leadership School last week. She’s so much braver than me!"
(I think mother and daughter are both seriously gutsy.)

7th grade — geolly! We took the train to DC from Atlanta and called ourselves adventuresome. Twelve is the new 24.
I read 19th century novels in 7th grade — abridged!– and thought I was bold.
I rapelled out of a tree in Costa Rica, but that one would scare me!!
That’s just as adventurous, Kenju. I’ve done some climbing on three occasions and found it hair-raising every time. I’ve promised myself No More! A solemn vow. Even if it’s a story assignment or the only way to get somewhere. I’ll wait for helicopter rescue.
I get frightened just looking at this picture. What an amazing experience they are having, the view must be spectacular. I applaud ther boldness and quest for adventure!
So do I, Carolyn– in response to both your statements.
Rappelling is soooo fun. Funny the things that frighten us and the things we think are fun!
It’s so individual, isn’t it? I love public speaking, hate chain saws.
Even tho we Know that youngster has a safety line, still it's spooky. I did a ropes course a long time ago, and I was plenty freaked, while at the same time, I had complete trust in my safety line. Human animals're programmed to recognize and avoid danger, with or without a safety line. Aiki
Some human animals seem more built that way than others, it seems tome, Aiki. I fell once on a safety rope on a rock face near the Nantahala River in NC. I was safe, but it was quite a jolt when the rope caught me.
